III - Alex and his Mother Visit Reno

III - Alex and his Mother Visit Reno

Song:  Drops Of Jupiter

Group:  Train

As Alex is now 21 years old...
he was looking forwards to being able to play some gambling
machines in Reno (Atlantis Casino)...
just for the experience.

Alex just put in $20.00 for fun...
and he tried Keno first.

He then tried Poker.

He won some...
but mostly lost.

However, he just wanted the experience of gambling.
It was just a one time thing for him.

He is actually good with money...
and he never wastes it.

He ended up only spending $10.00.

His mother had doubled her money (To $40.00).
He game is Keno.

We went down to the money kiosk to retrieve their winnings
and remaining credits.

We then headed to that night's main event...
the all you can eat Buffett.

As I wasn't that hungry...
I just went for a variety of tastes.

I tried mostly differing things over three plates in succession.

I liked their BBQ Beef Brisket.

For Alex's first plate...
he had crab.

These were my wife's plates...
all three.

I then got some Prime Rib.

I then got some noodles...
and my favorite of the night...
Schezwan Crab.

After Alex's third plate...
it was time for dessert.

My wife picked a couple of desserts.

I was satisfied with just a small cup of egg custard.

After Supper...
we went to Prosser Reservoir to attempt to capture a great sunset...
but it was not to be.

A thick cloud layer occluded the setting sun.

However, as my wife had never been there...
and it had been years since Alex had been there...
we still enjoyed the evening's display.

There is one more day for photos.

As they are still sleeping...
I plan to make Beefers for them for lunch...
just before they have to drive back home.

It will be another six months before I can see them again...
but it will be at Alex's graduation ceremony at UC Berkeley.

Alex will be flying back to the East Coast in a month or so
for an all expense paid (plus he will get paid) trip to Harvard University.

Just as he had taught high schoolers at the Stanford University Summer Math Camp
last year.

This year he will be teaching high schoolers
at the Harvard University Summer Math Camp for two weeks.

Alex loves traveling and teaching at various educational institutions.

The next article will cover our last hours before they drive back home.
