Lockdown Life: Best Virtual Tours to Enjoy in South Africa

While COVID-19 Level 3 restrictions mean life in South Africa is slightly more relaxed now, going out (unless essential) is still discouraged.

Many South Africans are heeding the call to stay home… But doing the right thing is not always easy – especially when you see friends, neighbours and city dwellers out galavanting.

While we would love to explore every thriving corner of Babylonstoren by foot… At present, only the Farm Shop, Online Store and Tasting Room (wine purchases only) are open.

However, this doesn’t mean you cannot get a glimpse of this beautiful Franschhoek estate during lockdown life!

The team has compiled a series of fascinating YouTube/Instagram TV virtual tours.

These showcase the intricate workings and peaceful atmosphere of the farm. Best of all, new virtual tours are published every week.

So far, they include the likes of: Apiary Garden Tour; How to Press Plants to Make a Herbarium and my favourite: A Virtual Tour of Babylonstoren’s Fynbos Garden, to name only a few.

The tours are tastefully compiled and curated. Each offers a down-to-earth, insightful glimpse into Babylonstoren’s many farm wonders.

The videos vary between 2-6 minutes, running time. As a result, they are ideal dips into nature.

Tintswalo Safari Lodge – responsible for so many luxurious South African lodges – are offering some exciting virtual safari tours.

These are uploaded daily to their various social media platforms for travel lovers to enjoy.

You can also view the Wildlife Live Webcam. This is streamed from their website. So you can watch the action as it unfolds. 🙂

Virtual safari tours range between 10-20 minutes in length.

Each offers an amazing look at different wildlife; they are so educational and capitivating.

I had to pinch myself with the video quality… It was like being right there on the safari vehicle!

The clips are beautifully compiled and expertly narrated by experienced guides.

With all the sights and sounds of the bush, it is like being on safari!

I absolutely love them and can’t recommend them enough!

Lion prides on the prowl, wild dogs at play: this the stuff of safari dreams.
